Provision of AI Productivity Enhancement Solutions for the Manufacturing Industry
QCould you tell us about the features of your company's solutions?
The solutions we offer include an AI agent and AI platform designed to maximize the productivity of core business processes, particularly for companies in the manufacturing industry. For example, the agent automatically analyzes changes and discrepancies by reading machinery and design drawings using AI and reports the analysis results in the form of drawings or organized tables. While general industrial AI models often include features to interpret and summarize design drawings, when a human reads the actual drawings, there are often small symbols or company-specific notations that make it difficult to simply rely on OCR to complete the task. For our solutions, we conduct interviews with skilled technicians and perform a tailored development process that meticulously aligns with the customer’s unique data and environment. This allows us to achieve high accuracy in interpretation.
In fact, we feel that the high practicality is evident, as 70 percent of the companies that have conducted a PoC with us thus far have moved on to the next full-scale development phase.
QWhat would you say are your company's strengths?
One is that we are a company offering AI solutions that are customized according to the customer and specifically tailored to the manufacturing industry. As service providers, we are also well-versed in the manufacturing industry, and we excel at drawing out the specialized knowledge of our clients. In the initial stages of a project, we make sure to fully understand what the client wants to achieve and incorporate the necessary value creation into AI. I believe this is one of our strengths. Additionally, since we have our own proprietary AI platform, deployment can be completed in a shorter time compared to open-source AI, significantly shortening the validation period.
QWhy did you consider expanding into Japan?
Founded in South Korea in 2017 and subsequently expanding to Silicon Valley in the United States in 2018, we focused our international development on these two key locations. However, since the manufacturing sector, where we have a strong advantage, accounts for about 20% of Japan’s GDP, we saw significant potential for market entry and decided to expand into Japan.
QWhat efforts are you making with business partners in Japan?
For our first PoC in Japan, we are developing an AI agent for an international device manufacturer. This AI agent is designed to read unstructured documents (matrix tables) provided by corporate clients worldwide and generate instructional documents in natural language that can be easily understood by humans.
We also have a PoC underway with a robot manufacturer.
QWhat types of collaborators are you looking to engage with in the future?
We specialize in solutions tailored for the manufacturing industry, so we hope to expand our connections with clients in the manufacturing sector and related areas. Our company originally started with the analysis of OT data, but we excel in developing services tailored to clients based on on-site analyses, and we believe this differentiates us from other companies that are based on more general generative AI. Our company is especially strong in performing on-site analyses themselves. Therefore, we are recognized for our ability to provide solutions that work on-site after implementation. We seek to support companies that have experienced difficulties integrating AI and digital transformation into their operations.
QCould you please share a message for the Japanese companies?
In Japan, DX (digital transformation) and AIX (AI transformation) have traditionally been regarded as separate concepts. However, with the proliferation of generative AI like Chat GPT, the groundwork has been laid for rapid advancement in both DX and AIX. However, at manufacturing sites, which are the heart of Japan, the implementation of AI has not yet fully progressed. At MakinaRocks, we aim to contribute to the revival of Japanese manufacturing by achieving tangible AI implementation at industrial sites alongside Japanese companies.
